I am always whistling a tune. (Literally. This is something my Dad always did too.) It tends to drive my family crazy but I just can’t help it. Songs are always running through my head.
The one that keeps running through my head right now is I Wanna Get Better by The Bleachers. I really have no idea what the song means but the chorus hooks me every time! I’m always singing ‘I wanna get better. Better…better…better.’
Feel free to play this song so it can get stuck in your head too!
Every year I like to pick a word for the year. I’ve been kind of struggling for a real action word but Better keeps rising to the surface for me. At first I thought it was pretty wishy washy but the more I think about it the more I like it. It works on so many levels for me.
To me, better implies that things were already good, but that there is room for improvement. In my view, there is ALWAYS room for improvement!
First off this is the year I get my health and body together. I’m working with a great functional medicine practitioner and for the first time in years I’m starting to see improvement in my health. (One of these days I will share more about this.) I’m now to the point that I am back to hiking as often as I can (3 times a week if I can swing it!) and I’m sleeping like a champ. Both of these are big changes. I’m on the road to getting better!
The next thing I want to get better at is rolling with change. Our family is going to be changing a lot this year. (No I am not pregnant, I’ve just got a high school senior. Ha!) I am such a huge planner and I am always envisioning the next step. Since we have never sent a kid off to college I have no idea what to envision so I’m going to try to be better at being flexible and embracing change.
As far as my business goes, I’ve got a lot of things I’m working on. As I write this I am in Las Vegas for WPPI. This is an annual photographer’s conference with tons of classes for business and technique and a trade show where I can put my hands on all of the newest products to see what I would like to offer my clients. This will help me offer my clients a better experience all the way around. I had my best year ever last year but I want to make it even better this year.
So there it is. I’m doing so well and I am lucky in so many aspects in my life but I’m not one to rest on my laurels (as ample as they may be). I wanna get better…better, better, better!
