Or maybe even a bit more! Last week I started the annual school shopping nights with my girls. Ellie was up first because she was having an undergarment emergency. All of a sudden she was ‘busting’ out of everything and we needed to get some control. We started our night getting official measurements (hadn’t ever done that before). No wonder she was busting out, she was at least two sizes bigger than any of the undergarments she owned. D’oh!
Unfortunately we couldn’t find what we were looking for at the first few stores we stopped at. We even started joking that we would have to go to The Rack to really find something good! Then we rounded the corner and harps started playing and halos shot out of the exact store we needed. AND they had a lovely rainbow clearance rack. (Rack, get it?!?) On top of that, the sales gal talked us into getting a rewards card because we could ‘Really rack up the points!’ That totally got us cracking up but the sales girl was deadpan so I guess she didn’t appreciate our humor.
Next we hit up H&M for some basics and some accessories. While those sunglasses looked lovely on Ellie she opted, instead, to get a ‘statement’ necklace as her treat for the night. This kid likes a fully put together outfit!
After dinner we carried on with JC Penny (her favorite jeans) and a stop for PE shoes. Very exciting, yes? Okay, maybe more exciting was the stop at the candy store where they had cinnamon bears for me (a rare candy, trust me) and gummy cherries for Ellie. It was a marathon shopping day but a fun time had by both of us.
So, when I asked Ellie the standard questions she nearly exploded because she’d thought of her answers ahead of time but then forgot the PERFECT answers she’d come up with. Too bad, she still had to answer. I’m mean like that!
What are you most looking forward to next year? – Her second best answer (because she couldn’t remember the PERFECT answer) was ‘Football games. For the social and the football.’ I love that this kid loves football. We are so proud!
What are you most afraid of next year? – ‘The size of the school.’ I don’t blame her. That school is huge! Curriculum nights scare me and that is only one night!
Next year is going to be a good year for Ellie. I’m sure of it. It is not going to be a Bust because she is going to Rack up the good grades and good times!
