The second school shopping night belonged to Jill. She pretty much needed everything since there are no hand me downs for her, but we decided to keep it to one mall per night. I can only handle so much!
We started our night with dinner and while we were waiting for her meals I asked HER what she was most looking forward to this year and what she was most worried about. What a change from Ellie’s night! Jill is most looking forward to the Junior Achievement program/field trip (I’m not sure what that is but I’m sure I’ll blog about it when it happens!) and graduation. I guffawed at graduation but Jill clarified that it wasn’t that she wanted to leave the school, although that would be fun too, but that she really wanted to dress up at school.
Kid! I’m happy to help you dress up on any day! Moving past jeans and yoga pants would be fabulous but my input is not requested or appreciated. Sigh….someday she will ask for my opinion again. (At least this is what MY mom tells me!)
What was she worried about? ‘Nothing! What’s to worry about in middle school?’ Ooh I like that answer!
We found the bulk of our purchases at her favorite store, Aeropostale, but we had to stop at the naked guys store too. Yup, that is what we call Hollister. Do I really need my kid carrying a bag with a naked guy on it? Apparently so because we got a few cute things there too.
Amazingly there was very little gnashing of teeth. We (mostly) agreed on what was cute and what she needed. Don’t worry though, I’m not naive enough to think that shopping with a teenager will be easy in the future. But I AM smart enough to appreciate a fun night out with my girlie!
