Stacie called me a week and a half ago hoping I could fit her into my schedule. Her regular photographer, my good friend Jami Erickson, was completely booked and Stacie needed to get some newborn pictures of her newest girlie Chelsea.
At the time the appointment was booked Chelsea was almost 6 weeks old and she was going to be seven weeks by the time we had the photo shoot. In the grand scheme of life she was still a newborn, but newborn photographers really like to get their lenses on those babies before they are more than 10 days old. That’s the best time to get those squishy sleeping baby folded in half pictures.
I’m always up for a challenge, though, so I told Stacie to come on Saturday morning and plan on staying awhile. We took some fun family shots and plenty of cute photos of big sister Madison. We also took some happy smiling baby pictures that are so typical for that age.
Here are my favorites of those….
Next we sent Madison and her dad Fred off to the park for some father/daughter time and Stacie and I set our site on getting Chelsea to sleep. She fought us off hard but we were victorious in the end. I was so surprised at how deeply we were able to get her to sleep. She didn’t give us a very big window, but I was able to do some poses that I NEVER get with a baby the ripe old age of seven weeks.
Here are my favorite ‘newborn’ photos…
So the moral of the story is, if you have some time to plan and you want newborn photos then call me as soon as you conceive and I’ll put you on my schedule. However, if life is a bit crazy and gets in the way of a good schedule and you STILL want newborn photos then call me anyway. I like a good challenge!
