I know it’s late but I just have to share a few pictures from our Superbowl experience. Amazing!
It started out with Allen and I questioning our parenting abilities. How is it that two of our three kids were actually wanting to go to school instead of the parade? Where had we gone wrong? Were we really going to have to force them to make the correct decision? Were we going to have to FORCE them to ditch school to witness history? I’m glad to say that it never came to that. After sharing some of our own life experiences (Where we were and what we did when the Sonics won the NBA Championship in 1979. Hint, neither of us went to the parade.) Jill and Ellie came to the correct conclusion and decided to join us for the parade. Whew! They sure don’t teach you THAT in the parenting hand book!
We found an awesome (and lucky) parking spot and walked to the parade route. It was a sea of humanity! Blue and Green everywhere! Ellie found us the perfect spot. (This is her self satisfied face.)
This is where we waited. Right under the shadow of the Space Needle.
And Jill did a little Charlie Brown dance with her hand warmers to celebrate.
It was bitterly cold (21 degrees with wind chill) though and the parade started an hour late so this is the face Kate was making by the time it started.
But it quickly turned to this when the parade started…
This guy rode a stationary bike outside all of the games to raise money for military families. It was pretty cool to see that he could ride a bike that actually moves too.
It was hard to get great pictures with all of the cell phones and arms raised but here are a few I got. Marshawn Lynch throwing Skittles to the crowd at the very front of the parade.
Coach Pete Carroll waving to the 12th Man.
And this is the wide receivers thanking the crowd…
Once it got started it was an amazingly quick parade. 15 minutes. I’m not kidding! But so satisfying and fun to be around the nearly 1 million fans who crowded into the city to thank their Seahawks. What a fun day!
Go Hawks!
