Normally I like to see my newborns by the time they are 10-14 days old. That way I am almost guaranteed to get those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures. Little Tommy, here, was just about 3 weeks old when he came to visit. I guess you can call his parents, Tom and Brandy, slackers. I can’t believe they couldn’t bring their little man in earlier. I mean really. What’s the big deal what with having a baby, buying a new house, moving, and supervising the completion of said house all in the last three weeks?
When Tommy got here we fed him almost immediately and settled in to let him get to sleep. I pulled out all my tricks. I had a space heater going so the air was nice and warm and I had a heating pad going so the blankets would be nice and warm. That little man would not fall asleep for an hour and a half! (Finally a nice warm and noisy hair dryer did the trick.) I think the biggest problem with this whole scenario is that Brandy emailed me and told me what a great sleeper he was. That’s the kiss of death and Brandy regretted it as soon as she hit send.
I tell ya, though. Once Tommy was out he let me do whatever I wanted so all was forgiven. Here are my favorites…
And this one’s for Daddy:
