‘Bored’ is a bad word in our house. Usually I send the kids off to clean the laundry room if I hear it coming out of their mouths, but this time it was me. Since I didn’t want to clean the laundry room (even though it is on my list of things to do) I decided I needed a project. Not that I had TIME for a project, just that I NEEDED one.
So I turned to Pinterest of course. I decided that the easiest, most versatile, projects would be with felt so I made a quick trip to Michael’s to get some supplies. Since everybody knows that it is way easier to create art in a messy space than a clean one (What, you haven’t heard that?) I decided to leave the supplies out through the weekend to see what would happen. (Please ignore the random plastic blue lei in the center. We attended a school luau middle of the weekend.)
Aside from nearly killing me, it really did lead to some fun projects. We made teacher gifts, gift/business card holders, wallets, device cases and pillows. All of the girls got involved creating and designing their own crafts. Such fun!
Here are some of the projects we completed. This pillow was inspired by this post:
This pillow was inspired by this advent calendar. Minus the advent calendar.
I decided to make an iPhone case that could hold ID and or a credit card. I made it as a teacher gift (there will be a gift card in the back) but I loved it so much I had to make myself one too! The flowers were inspired by this project.
I made a cute little gift card holder for a birthday party last Saturday but I forgot to take a picture of it. But, I loved IT so much that I made one to hold my business cards. Are you seeing a theme here? This was inspired by this post but I don’t know what that was supposed to be!
I’m happy with all of our projects, but I’m also happy to see the surface of my coffee table again. It’s a win win for me! I will be keeping all of the scraps and leftovers for a slow summer day. As soon as I hear the ‘B’ word I’m going to dump them out on the coffee table and let our minds wander!
