If you have been following along then you know that I set the party for 2-4:30 in the afternoon. I set it for that time because I preferred not to come up with some sort of Harry Potter meal that kids would eat and I wanted to leave myself enough time to set everything up. What I didn’t consider was how hard it was going to be for my girls to wait for the party to start. “How much longer until the party starts?” and ‘Why can it be Daylight Savings today?’ were the questions of the day.
I guess the other girls were just as excited for the party to start because they all showed up at 2:00 on the dot. They all started out in the Common Room catching up on the news in the Quibbler. (Ellie wrote the copy and made newspapers for all the attendees.) Please note that Luna is reading her copy upside down, as is her custom.
The first stop on the schedule was Care of Magical Creatures class. Jill did an excellent job of explaining how to care for the little owls and the girls were quite adept at sewing them up. They also really enjoyed teaching them to fly off our upper balcony!
The next class was Potions with Professor Snape. Madison did a great job showing the girls the steps for the potion and her list of ingredients was top notch. Mr. Fun and I were especially pleased that the Dragon’s Blood (food coloring) came in a package with all the house colors. That way the students could pick the color of blood that represents the house they most identify with. Adding the jumping bean (Alka Seltzer) makes the whole potion bubble. All of the students successfully completed this class.
Since the weather was somewhat less dismal at this point (drizzle instead of full on rain) Colin Creevey (that would be me) asked all the students to join him in the Forbidden Driveway. We don’t have a Forbidden Forest so we couldn’t go there and this was the Forbidden Driveway because we had to be quick with our pictures. This is the only driveway on our block with a covered, neutral garage door and we don’t know these people. So we took some quick class pictures.
And we even had time for the birthday girls to dual with their fellow students…
Then we ran back inside for the scavenger hunt. (See this post if you missed it.)
A long, hard scavenger hunt means hungry and thirsty students so it was off to the Great Hall for a meal. Or a snack. Or just mainlining sugar would have been fine too.
The girls ended the party in the Common Room (just my family room but the fireplace set the tone I think) by opening gifts and then playing a roaring game of Harry Potter Scene It (The complete version).
I’m thinking they could have gone on for a few more hours but it was time for Colin and Neville to collapse in a heap on the couch. Another lovely birthday season survived in the Enebo Household!
Just tying it all together…here are my other party posts:
