This year our annual tree hunt happened over Thanksgiving weekend. We knew we’d have great crew of people coming out and we were hoping to have better weather than last year. (It poured.)
The weather had been spectacular all week…all the way through Thanksgiving that is. The weather forecasters kept predicting a huge rain storm that was supposed to start on Saturday afternoon. Since I am a habitual weather watcher (the hazard of the trade for an outdoor photographer) I checked the hour by hour forecast and it said the rain chance was going to go up dramatically at noon.
So naturally I warned all of our peeps. ‘When we get there be sure and pick out your tree first just in case it starts raining!’ Well I need not have worried because rain didn’t set in until well after 8pm. We had a lovely day. In fact, the kids got so hot while they were playing tree tag that all stripped down to their short sleeved shirts. Crazy!
Here are the kids plotting out their tag strategies. Buster was monkey in the middle.
Want to know how we get five trees (yes five!) on top of our car to come home? Here’s how! You shove four of them through the netter at the same time. It’s a tree burrito!
These pictures don’t even include any of us having chili and s’mores by the campfire. I guess my fingers were just too sticky to pick up my camera.
A big thanks to Mother Nature for the fine weather and to all the family and friends that make this day so special every year!
