That’s the phrase that went through my head the whole time I was getting ready for Ellie’s party. I know, I’m weird that way!
Just as with Jill’s non-party, I needed a theme for Ellie too. Back in the fall Ellie helped raise money for her middle school by selling magazines. She tried REALLY hard to sell enough to earn a ‘Stache Labbit but she didn’t quite make it. Such sadness. But it did give me the inspiration for this party. Mustaches are just funny and so plentiful these days so it was easy to pull together. I got some straw staches, made chocolate staches, Auntie Jo Jo helped out by making scrap paper staches for the table and cakes and the prize for the scavenger hunt was stache pins.
Speaking of the scavenger hunt, Mr. Fun did an awesome long distance job. Unfortunately he had to be in Europe for work but he wrote the clues before his trip and left specific instructions for all concerned. Not only that, he involved the cousins (Aren’t they cute in their staches? Thanks Jo!) in a clue and even woke up at 3:30am to give a clue of his own. (We sent him to Europe with a special stache of his own to wear but his briefcase was stolen. I’m pretty sure that the burglars were after that stache but got all of Allen’s electronics as a bonus.)
The next morning Mini, the cat, helped introduce a new party game to the crowd. Mice hunting! (Why do the mice always come out when Allen is out of town?) Those girls were much braver than I so they offered to head down to the garage, flashlights in hand, to see what they could find. Of course the mouse was much smarter than they were but it did manage to entertain the girls for a half hour. Feel free to use this game at your next party.
Oh, and did I mentioned that one of Ellie’s besties got her that coveted Stache Labbit for her birthday? (Hers is the cow print on the right.) Oh yeah! A great time had by all. Here’s hoping her real birthday can live up to this fun!
