In order to ensure that Santa had all of the nourishment he needed to make it around the world in 24 short hours the girls and I decided to make something extra special for him. Joe’s Balls. I don’t know who Joe is, but we love his balls. Wanda sent us home with all of the ingredients necessary to make some of our own so this was an easy and fun activity for all of us. In fact, the recipe is so easy that it would have been simple even if we had to gather our OWN ingredients. I’m just glad they shared the recipe.
Have I tempted you enough? Okay, okay. Here’s the recipe: Whip 8 ounces of cream cheese with a hand blender and mix in 3 rolls/rows of crushed Oreos.
Here’s a good way to crush them. Hire a 10 year old with a rolling pin…
Once they are mixed together it forms a stiff dough. I used a teaspoon measuring spoon to form little balls.
Chill the balls before you dip them, otherwise there could be some sort of ‘party foul’ with tons of balls in the bottom of the dip. Melt one bag of chocolate chips and two tablespoons of shortening. (I used a mini crock pot.) When all is melted, hire that 10 year old and her helpers to spear and dip the balls into melty goodness. (By the state of Kate’s face it looks like there was some taste testing going on…)
Then when you run out of balls for dipping start looking through your pantry for other dipables. We tried pretzels and sugar cookies…
but the piece de resistance and most sought after item that we dipped?
Da Bears!
There you have it. Now go forth and multiply (the balls).
