I am not going to blog every week of our summer but the first week was significant because we jumped right into our summer activities. No rest for the weary or sitting around for us!
Jill was off for another week at Cambell Farm. This is a mission camp where the kids work in the morning on the Yakima Indian Reservation (this year Jill worked at two food banks, The Union Gospel Mission and on a farm) and then in the afternoon they get to swim or float down the river in an inner tube. While it wounds like a lot of work, she can hardly wait to go back next year!
Kate had Cheerleading camp every morning. She went with our neighbor and the girls had a blast shaking their hips and waving their pom poms. The week ended with a show of all they learned. They learned a lot but it is somewhat funny to note that I wasn’t entirely sure that they were all doing the same cheer during the show. Their best moves were the between cheer kicks and jumps. What an enthusiastic bunch!
All of these camps gave Ellie and I a chance to hang out together. What a novel concept for the middle kid! We set aside three mornings to just hang out. One day was a bike ride to Starbucks, one day was a field trip to the new Home Goods store (honest, she really WANTED to do this!), and one day we puttered around. But doing this with just the two of us was such fun.
Now that the sun has finally come out (it is after the 4th of July after all) we have a whole host of other activities that are open to us. Yeah for going outside!
