Today is my good friend Judith‘s birthday. As a mama she sacrifices daily for her kids, but she made an even bigger sacrifice 13 years ago when she gave birth to her big ‘un’ Henry. (Happy Birthday Henry! Thank you for putting up with my embarrassing photo hijinx.) Ever since then she has given it her all to make sure Henry has a great day. Today I’m hoping to make hers!
Last weekend she hired me, ME, to take her family pictures. What an honor. What a scary prospect! At first I was excited and enthusiastic to shoot one of my favorite families. But as the photo shoot got closer and closer, I started to get nervous. Judith knows too much! She is a fabulous photographer too and I think of her like a partner in my business. Even though we are technically competitors we have always shared our strengths, lamented our weaknesses and attended all sorts of workshops together. I am constantly bouncing ideas off of her and soaking up any suggestions she sends my way.
Because I wanted her to be over the moon about these images, and because of my own recent, somewhat botched, family photo experience I was seriously nervous when it came time for the photo shoot. But once it all began I fell into photographer mode and let things happen naturally. If it seems like Judith is in every single picture that is because she is. As a photographer mama she gets awesome shots of her hubby and kids but she can’t really get any of herself with them. (Although she is quite tricky with her tripod and timer.) So the main focus was to get pictures of her with her family, her with her kids, and her with her hubby.
I am so happy with how these pictures turned out and I hope she loves them as much as I do! Happy Birthday Judith!

I got a special request, at the very end of our session, for a tongue picture. Since I aim to please I am posting this last one for Annie…
