When I was little my sister and I always thought we were the luckiest kids because we got to have three Christmas’. We would have one a week before for just our family. (Clearly my parents had an IN with Santa because he would deliver to our house a week early!). Then we would drive to Montreal and spend Christmas Eve with my Mom’s family and Christmas Day with my Dad’s parents. So much fun!
Instead of dwelling on how weird and different Christmas was going to be on 2020 I decided to focus on the fun fact that we were going to have three Christmas’ this year again! We celebrated with my sister on Christmas Eve, we did our own little celebration on Christmas Day and we celebrated with Allen’s family on the 27th. Plenty of fun!
We like to give experiences to our kids if we can because those are the gifts that last. 2020 made us get seriously creative! We managed to take in three great streaming concerts. We gave 6 months of HBO Max to our kids as their ‘movie pass’ because Lord knows we have no idea when we will go back to theaters. We also gave each family a pass to go to a drive through light show in the fair grounds.
The girls ALSO got creative on experiences for their gifts. They gave Allen and I a 2000 piece puzzle that is full of all sorts of family pictures. This is going to take us a good long time! They also gave us an ‘escape’ game where we need to use clues to try to escape the room within an hour. Of course it’s a board game because we aren’t going to those sorts of things yet but it was just as fun. (And no, we did not escape in time. It was hard!)
The pandemic has really limited our time with Allen’s family and that is so frustrating. And so is the fact that Mother Nature did not come through for us. BUT, Wanda and Deana got creative and decorated Dean’s shop. We had heaters, puffy blankets and lots of laughs while we celebrated.
The girls let me take their pictures in front of a new colorful wall. I don’t get to take their pictures together nearly enough so I took full advantage.
We spent our last few days of break up in Suncadia. This might be the last time for Jill and Ellie since the house is on the market and may sell while they are off at college this spring. It was fun to have a change of venue and see some snow! I hardly took any pictures but here is one of these cuties in the snow. I LOVE all the walking trails they make on the golf course this time of year!
Here’s to a happy, healthy and hopeful 2021!
