Jill was very nervous about starting high school. Of course she was, right? Everything was unknown! We kept assuring her that it would be fine and she would find her way around.
After the first week she was still unsure. She hardly knew anybody in her classes, none of her regular buddies had lunch at the same time and the school was huge. Don’t worry, we told her. It will get easier!
Curriculum night was less than a week after school started so we got a chance to experience a bit of Jill’s day. On one hand we had a GREAT time because we knew a ton of parents in her classes. (Not because Jill knows their kids but because of work, or volunteering, etc.) Allen texted her part way through the night to say ‘So far we know people in all of your classes!’ Jill’s answer was classic:
‘Of course you do…you are Mr. FUN!’
On the other hand we did get to see that the school really is HUGE. Also, listening to all of the teachers was a bit scary. Would she be able to handle the work load? Jill is taking some honors classes and they sound like a lot of work. Secretly I was freaking out a bit for her.
Well that freaking out was all for not. Jill has found a great group of girls to have lunch with, she is really enjoying her honors classes, and now she knows the school like the back of her hand. She has even decided to go with a big group of girls to homecoming!
Sky’s the limit for this kid. We are so happy (and secretly relieved) for her!
