Pleasantville is exactly how I think about Seabrook. It is this tiny little neighborhood of beachy cottages that has crushed shell paths, fire pits, and pool and a cute little ‘town’ area. (Town consists of a small mini mart, a pet store, a book store, a ceramic pottery painting store and a restaurant.) It is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. And there is no cell service so you automatically connect more with your kids than the internet. (Don’t get me wrong, there is wifi but you just don’t have that everywhere you go!) See? Pleasantville
The best thing about Seabrook is the freedom the kids have. They can hop on their bikes and go shopping whenever they like. I loved that there were no stores to go by crappy little toys. If they were going to buy anything it was going to be dog toys or books to read. The book store even had a bookmark contest the weekend we were there. And look who won!
At the house we were staying in we had six adults and eight kids. (We went with our next door neighbors.) The kids all had a blast together which meant some lovely adult time for us too. On our last night we celebrated Ellie’s birthday with a big meal and our traditional Triple Chocolate birthday cake. After dinner the whole crowd played a rousing game of Apples to Apples. At one point one of the kids whispered to his mom that he was hoping to stay some extra nights. In the middle of the game while we were all getting crazy and raising voices and laughing Kate looked at me and exclaimed ‘THIS is what Seabrook is all about!’
I guess these guys had some fun. I guess we will have to do it again. Soon!
