Allen was out of town for 10 days straight. Now that the girls are a bit more independent it didn’t KILL me, but I thank my lucky stars that I am not a single mom. I’m way too weak for that job!
So, when he got back into town I made Allen promise to hold the day for me. That meant that BOTH of us had to say No. No I won’t be at that meeting. No I won’t volunteer in the classroom that day, etc. And say YES to a each other.
It felt positively sinful to go out on a date in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. So we worked in a few quick errands to relieve our guilt and then we went to lunch and a movie.
Here are a few shots from our day…
Every good day starts here…
It was Allen’s idea to stop here. I would have fallen out of my seat if I didn’t have my seatbelt on!
We didn’t have any of this for lunch..
but we did have burritos the size of our heads.
We ended our date here. A matinee. Mid week! There was only one other person in the theater. How sinful!
The movie finished with enough time for us to stop at a dealership and drool all over one of these. We won’t be getting one anytime soon, but I consider this sort of thing ‘priming the pump’. It takes Allen a long time to warm up to the idea of parting with our money.
We ended our day by picking up the girls from school together in the lovely sunshine.
The whole day was kind of like finding the prize in Cracker Jack. The caramel corn is yummy and the peanuts are enjoyable so that is why you buy it. But getting a prize every so often makes it the greatest snack ever!
