Random thoughts is all I’m capable of at this point in our Winter Break. The girls have been off all week and Allen has been out of town on business all week. (In Vegas of all places. SURE he’s working!) All of that means the I have been ON all week and I’m going a bit batty at this point. So if I don’t finish sentences or go off on tangents you will know why!
The other interesting factor added to this week is that we’ve been trying to stick to a budget and that is way easier when you aren’t trying to entertain three kids all week! So here is what we did:
A) We had a Harry Potter marathon that started on Sunday the 19th and will end Sunday the 26th. One movie a day seen sequentially. Given how many times we’ve seen these movies I’m surprised at what a big hit this has been.
B) We took advantage of the pool at the gym and the girls had a ball at the free swim. Key word being free there. Why don’t we do this more often?
C) We had gift cards from the family birthday party so we spread that love and spent them on three different days. Again, essentially a free activity but it gave us an outing to spend them and the girls were entertained with their treasures afterward.
D) We celebrated Mardi Gras with a yummy meal at the neighbors and a king cake for dessert. Ellie got the baby in her piece so I guess we will be hosting next year. I wonder if that baby (see above) could fit in a cake pop?
D) We found a second run theater and caught a showing of TinTin. We’d all wanted to see this movie over Christmas break but we ran out of time. $3.50 per ticket was a steal! Fun movie and amazing graphics but I should have checked the reviews before offering to take somebody else’s kids. There was a surprising amount of violence for a kids cartoon. Highly enjoyable though.
E) We had our good friends over for a playdate today so Judith and I could attend a FREE online workshop for newborn photography. That’s a playdate for the big people AND the little people!
So all told we found some fun things to do and some cheap ways to spend our time. (Unless you count the online shopping I did in preparation for our Spring Break trip. Hmmmm…not sure how to account for THAT!) I’m hoping to regain full use of my brain next week but no guaran…
