Really? My baby is graduating from 8th grade? My baby is going to high school? I’m in complete denial.
(Be warned…the following flowery text is complete bragging on my part. But I want all of this in my blog book at the end of the year. And hey…it’s my blog…I can do that!)
It’s been a big year for this kid. She has really come into her own and I can see now that she is actually ready for her next big adventure. This year she was chosen as a WEB (We All Belong…kind of like Natural Helpers if you know that organization.) advisor and helped orientate incoming 6th graders. At the end of the year she received the WEB Advisors award that was given by the staff advisors. So cool.
Speaking of awards, last week Jill found out that she is one of 10 kids that are up for Student of the Year. 5 girls and 5 boys were chosen and they will narrow it down to the top boy and girl. The really neat thing is that her best friend, Madison, is also one of the top 5. This is for students who have done well both academically and been good citizens of the school. Such an honor!
But wait…there’s more. More importantly Jill has succeeded in her personal goal this year to get to know more kids. Her posse has gotten so much bigger and it’s fun to hear the stories about all these new friends. She has continued to be the helpful, passionate, and funny girl we’ve always know her to be. We are so proud of the young woman she is becoming and we can hardly wait to see what great things her future holds for her!
This is a picture of Jill and Allen before they left for dinner. As a special treat Allen and Jill went out for a dressed up dinner with Jill’s best friend Madison and her dad Steve. I remember doing that with MY dad for graduation and I am so happy that the tradition continues. They had a great time!
Happy Graduation kid. We are so proud!
