This year I needed to rethink our school shopping tradition. We did plenty of shopping on the east coast, my girls are now excellent online shoppers, and they aren’t growing as much so they don’t need as much. My Mom, bless her, has already taken them shopping and could hardly talk the girls into anything.
In addition to that, I am working many nights each week so going out for dinners wasn’t going to work. But, I was not willing to give up the tradition so I decided I needed to adapt to survive.
Jill was the first guinea pig and it worked well. We left early to hit a few stores to look for VERY specific items she wanted. We only ended up getting this girl two things. A sweater and a belt. I consider this a victory. She is seriously hard to buy for!
We then went for a lovely lunch and caught a matinee of Crazy Rich Asians. So fun!
One thing I wasn’t willing to give up was the answering of my questions. Jill was all ready for me.
What is one thing you are worried about?- Jill is worried about eating a balanced diet now that she will be cooking for herself. She is definitely looking forward to cooking though. Her plan is to plan. She is going to figure out her meals for the week and plan it all out. Love that!
What is one thing you are looking forward to? – As usual, Jill is looking forward to seeing all of her friends again. People scatter much further in college than in high school! She is also looking forward to getting a new job. She has enjoyed her time at TCBY but she would REALLY like to work in an office. She is also looking forward to having a job during the school year. (This girls loves a good schedule!) She has been working on her resume and updating her ‘dress up’ wardrobe so she is ready for interviews!
Jill moves into her apartment in mid September and she jumps right into a leadership role at her church. We could not be more proud of this girl! (Can I call her that? Woman feels weird…)
I think I am going to like my new ‘days out’ with my girls. No pressure to shop. Just some good old one on one time!
