Last weekend we celebrated Ellie’s birthday by bringing a few of her good friends up to Suncadia to hang out. Since Ellie is such a book nerd we decided that was our perfect theme. (I learned from Jill’s party that decorating is all that is needed up in Suncadia. There are too many fun things to do up there!)
I had a great time tearing apart a book to make all of the fun things. There were buntings and pinwheels, a table runner and some hanging hearts. (We did attempt to make some book page origami birds to hang but that was beyond our abilities!) We had book worms for snacks and some gummy letters for the girls to write their own story snacks.
The cake was totally personal to Ellie. She is writing a book where the main character is a photographer who’s main form of transportation is a yellow bike. (A yellow bike will be featured on the cover.) I searched the internet high and low for a yellow bike and I finally found one on ebay. (Thank you Barbie!) The cool thing was Ellie got it right away and seemed thrilled with it. Woo hoo! (Drop the mic….)
These girls are all so similar that the scavenger hunt that Mr. Fun put together took forever. None of them are particularly good lookers (even when the clues are RIGHT in front of them) and nobody likes to talk to strangers so getting clues and hints was darn near impossible. Mr. Fun did a great job working his clues around the theme. So did one of the clue holders. The gal manning the front desk at Suncadia threw in her own book question before handing over the clue. She asked ‘What author died today and what book did she write?’ (Harper Lee was the answer and To Kill a Mockingbird.)
Here are a few pictures from the fun weekend.
I thought I might include the Prologue from Ellie’s book just to give you a little taste of what is to come! We all eagerly await the next chapter!
