Last week I met Claire and her family at a new spot for me. Meadowbrook Farm is out in North Bend and is surrounded by Mount Si on one side and an elk field on another. A really neat place!
I’ve known Julie for years through all sorts of different volunteering opportunities, but I’ve never met her crew. I managed to catch them right in the middle of all sorts of change. A day or two after our session her son Ryan was moving to Hawaii to live and work (he just graduated from college). Less than a week after our session her middle daughter, Erika, is going back to school at Washington State University. And Miss Claire is just starting her senior year and looking forward to applying to and picking her college. Rumor has it they got two new pups over the weekend too. Oh my!
The whole family was a pleasure to photograph for sure, but Claire was the star of the show. Seniors are so fun to photograph because we can walk or drive around and take two pictures here and drive a bit more and take two pictures over here. Since this was a new spot for me I had her stopping EVERYWHERE just to try out new spots! (Hey there’s a cool looking dirt road. Let’s put the chair in there!’ or ‘Hey, there is a small patch of tall grass next to a garbage pile. If you stand right here you will never know!’)
Not only was Claire a pleasure to chat with as we drove around to all the spots but I have honestly not photographed anybody so at ease in front of the camera. It was a really fun night!

Here are my favorite family pictures. I’m always so thankful when I get to photograph the family at the beginning of a senior session!
