Best. Quarantine Pal. Ever. Our timing for getting a new puppy was spot on. When you get a new puppy they suggest you clear your schedule because having a puppy is just like having a baby. You get NO sleep, you are at the beck and call of this little cutie, you can’t turn your back for a minute, and they pee wherever they want to. Well…if we have to be stuck at home we might as well be training a puppy. And now I have four others at home with me too!
I started an Instagram page (frankie.and.poppy) to document all the fun, and I will eventually blog all of my instagram photos, but today I thought I’d share my first batch. The goal was to do a newborn style photo shoot with this new pup. The only problem with that is that she doesn’t sleep as HARD as a newborn. We can transfer her to her crate when she falls asleep on the floor but it’s pretty rare that she will let me put her anwhere else…especially if that thing is fun to chew on. (Again…so ADD and easily distractable!)
We started with a bath because we wanted her beautiful fur to look clean and shiny. (The breeder sent her home clean but there had been a lot of wrestling with Poppy so she wasn’t quite up to our shiny standards anymore!). Needless to say she was not a fan of the bath. If she could have wiggled away she would have. Good thing we had four hands holding and scrubbing!
Then we broke the shoot up into two portions. One where she had just gotten up because that is when she is quietest. Those were the awake pictures.
Then we waited until she fell asleep and tried to transfer her over to my little photo setup. Totally unsuccessful. She woke right up and proceeded to eat the Flokati. Ugh! We tried again later and managed to get her wrapped up a bit but just as we were settling in Jill and Poppy came in from a long hike and that woke her right up. Oh well…best laid plans. Here’s what we got.
The next goal for me is to get pictures of my Doods together. Poppy is being so much more tolerant and she really enjoys playing with her little playmate…but she isn’t ready to snuggle up yet. I’m working on it!
