Every year I seem to end up with a phrase that speaks to my year. Last year my phrase was Let it Go. That phrase turned out to be apropos. Between my knee, my Dad’s passing, and my crazy fall I had no choice but to let it go.
On Christmas Eve we had dinner with the Jackson side of the family including my Dad’s brother Rob, my aunt, cousins, etc. It was a lovely evening with time to catch up and share stories. One of the stories my uncle shared was awesome. He was working with a personal trainer now that had once also trained my Dad. When she asked how he was Rob told her that he was happy because the business he had built with my Dad was doing really well and was about to be sold while it was at is peak performance. The trainer asked how he felt about that and he said ‘I’m jacked!’ Rob did not even realize what he’d said but the trainer pointed how how perfect that phrase was. It perfectly embodies the energy and enthusiasm my Dad brought to everything.
That phrase is perfect for my new year. That is exactly what I am going to do with my business, volunteering, family fun, everything. I am going to GetJacked! I am going to jump in with two feet and full enthusiasm. I am going to bring the laughter, and leave the fear behind.
Who’s with me? Who is ready to #getjacked?
PS – Rob thought it would be awesome to make an emoticon of my Dad so we could use it when texting. Turns out Apple doesn’t make that very easy. Jill made this emoticon (from a picture of him dancing with her) and the expression is perfect but inserting it anywhere is near impossible. No worries, now you’ve seen it and you can picture it every time we use that hashtag!
