Did I just date myself with that blog post title? Probably! This year for spring break we started our California Adventure at…California Adventure and Disney. We haven’t been there for nine years so we thought it was time.
Boy have things changed! We got to ride all the GOOD rides this time. And we didn’t have to go back to the room for nap time (although I did miss that part!). And everybody could carry their own stuff. And if we got separated we could just text each other instead of calling the cavalry. So many good things!
Our favorite ride was Thunder Mountain Railroad. We went on it six times in 2.5 days. (I liked it best in the dark!) The biggest bummer was that the fireworks were cancelled the first night so we never got our picture with the star going over the castle. Boo!
After our crazy days in Disney it was nice to finish our spring break relaxing in the desert with family. I hardly took any pictures of that but here are the few I got!
The biggest activity we had in Palm Springs was the Pool Olympics. This year the goal was 70 pools and they easily did that. It took four hours but there were way more participants this year. Not only did my nephews (Jack and Henry) make it for the full 70, but my cousins boys joined in the fun too. (We do not see these cousins very often so these three boys really don’t know us. I can’t imagine their reaction to hearing that after just getting off a flight from Toronto, they would be hopping in a golf cart for four hours and jumping in and out of 70 pools. I’m so impressed with them. They were all in!) 67 of the 70 pools were neighborhood pools and only three were private. That’s a lot of pools. How funny would it be to be enjoying a relaxing float in the neighborhood pool when 9 people run in, jump into the pool, jump back out and run back to the golf carts. It was a drive by dunking!
I like to think that my Dad made a little visit while we were there too. Normally we listen to our Palm Springs Playlist non-stop. This year we had it on bluetooth in the rental car and it worked just great. Until the last day when, instead of our playlist, this Jimmy Buffet song came on. He was a BIG fan of Jimmy so I think this was his way of saying hi. Hi Dad!
This is just one of the many ‘lasts’ we are experiencing with Jill this year since she will be gone at college next year. What a fun way to go out!
