For Kate’s day out we actually did a bit of shopping. How novel! Unlike Jill, Kate and Ellie LIKE to shop! She only had a couple things on her list, which we found quickly. That has always been her shopping MO. Get in, get out, quit messing about. And then we found some EXTRA things that were too good a deal to pass up.
We finished our date with a quick lunch at Red Robin. One of our favorites. Somehow Kate and I end up there together quite a bit. She loves the grilled cheese, I love the salad, we both love the endless fries and we totally geek out with the trivia at the table. Before we started the trivia games, though, she had to answer the questions.
What are you most worried about? – Kate is most worried about the extra homework load that honors classes will probably require. We highly encouraged her to sign up for honors english and honor social studies because she is a smarty and we know she can handle it!
What are you most looking forward to? – Kate is most looking forward to being able to carry her backpack from class to class. I’m not even joking. I had to have her repeat that answer. She pointed out that it was against the rules to carry them in middle school because they were a fire hazard. Apparently they don’t worry about a little thing like fire in high school and nobody gets a locker (they CAN, they just choose not to) so they carry their life on their backs. (Too bad they don’t have a chiropractic class…they could all use it after the first week!)
We are so proud of this kid. She is greeting her freshman year with open arms and an open mind. We are so excited to see what this year hold for her!
