Yesterday was the first day of school for my peeps. It was a really strange start actually. Kate was the first one out the door at 7am to start 7th grade. She has always been the LAST one out the door. Jill drove Ellie to school because, unless you are a freshman at the high school school, the start time for the fist day is 10am. It sure is handy to have another driver around.
JILL starts even later than that. Jill is doing Running Start part time this year. That means she will be going to the community college to take two classes per quarter in the morning. The cool thing about this program is it counts for high school credit AND college credit. The community college doesn’t start until the end of September. That means that she only needs to be at the high school for the last two periods of the day for an art class and a class she is a TA in. It sounds like a total senior schedule, but her college classes will be more challenging. (Calculus and sociology this quarter.)
I’m glad they are all fairly independent and can figure out their own schedules because I’d need a spreadsheet to keep track! This is Jill’s LAST first day of school (if you can call it that). I guess this lousy goosy first day is just getting me ready for next year when Jill won’t even be under our roof when she starts. Weird! I better just savor yesterday even if it was all over the place!
