Before I do any photo sessions I try to find out a bit about my subjects. Particularly with my seniors. Since Mom is usually booking the sessions she is usually my source. In Ethan’s case she was very clear that he did NOT like to have his pictures taken (definitely not the first time I’d heard that!) and he also has eyes that are sensitive to light. This was all good to know! (He also didn’t have a passion, in particular, that he wanted to highlight.)
I honestly don’t know why he doesn’t like having his picture taken. He was a total natural! Don’t get me wrong, he’s not the kind of guy that is going to be laughing his head off or doing crazy moves for me. That’s just not him. The amazing thing about Ethan is that he was so comfortable in his skin. He just knew how to stand and how to hold his hands and he never gave me a fake smile. I so appreciate that!
At the end of our session he told me that the last pictures he’d had taken were in direct sunlight (um…what?!) and were really painful for his eyes. He then went on to say that he’d had a good time and it wasn’t nearly as bad as he thought it would be. I take that as high praise! Totally made my night!
Ethan hasn’t narrowed down his school of choice yet, or even started applying since IT WAS ONLY JULY! But he does want to study computer science. So that will help drive his decision. Can’t wait until I do his cap and gown session next year to hear where he ends up!
Here are my favorites from his session…
And a few with his family…
