In 2018 the Issaquah High School track team won the state championship. Jasper was an alternate for the team which means he had to practice with the team and be ready to go at a moments notice (i.e. even a minute before the race’s start) if anybody got hurt or sick before their race. That’s almost more pressure than actually knowing which races you are competing in. Too much uncertainty for me but Jasper was there for his team every step of the way!
The team meets five times a week throughout the summer doing practice runs to stay in shape and get ready for next year. With dedication like that I’m sure they will be back competing for the championship again!
Jasper is hoping he can continue to run in college too, setting hs sites on a bunch of division two schools and, if he has a banner year, some division one schools too. Given his determination I have no doubt he will go far. (And I’m not just talking bout his mileage!)
It was a pleasure photographing Jasper and his family. It was easy to see that his whole family shares a big sense of fun!
Here are my favorites from his senior session…
And a few of his family too!
