I can’t believe it, but after 12 awesome years Allen and I are finally graduating from elementary school. Boy are we slow learners! But I digress, this blog post is actually about our amazing Kate. Today she was promoted from 5th grade. Which I think is another way of saying she is graduating, but I may need to go back to 4th grade to learn that vocabulary word.
Every week at the elementary school the teachers choose a child from their class to be ‘Great Kid’. Those kids get to have lunch with the principal and they receive a special certificate with kind words from their teacher. I am going to share Mr. Huttle’s words because they sum up her year in such a lovely way.
My Great Kid this week is Kate Enebo. Kate has made tremendous growth this year academically and individually. I have witnessed her taking ownership for herself, and she has stepped up to the plate and made herself proud. With each passing week she reflects on her learning and progress with honesty, and this has aided in her substantial growth. She is challenging herself in all that she does, and is making the strides needed to prepare for middle school. I am continually impressed with Kate and am proud of the person she is. Her smile has been contagious, and her enthusiasm for learning has broadened all of our minds. We are grateful for her perspective on life. Kate, you have great things coming your way. Keep working hard and don’t stop until you have achieved your dreams. ~Mr. Huttle
With staff this thoughtful can you see why we will be missing our time at elementary school? Oh my.
Here is a Kate retrospective for your viewing pleasure. Look at how much this girlie has changed. We love you Kate!
