This year’s theme for Vacation Bible School was Sky. We had a big crew going. Each day I had my three plus we picked up two along the way (Hi Madison and Ava!). Thank goodness for all the help because my volunteer job was to help make snacks for all 209 attendees. Let me tell you…that is a lot of Jesus Jello to make!
That is also a lot of cheese sticks to prepare. Here are the girls Cutting the Cheese for Jesus. We crack ourselves up! They were cutting the cheese into quarters so the campers could make barbels out of pretzel sticks and cheese blocks. They also made some with grapes. We were illustrating the point that God is Strong!
The girl’s favorite parts were Jill – dancing on stage with the worship , Ellie – working with the toddlers in childcare and Kate – Bible Adventures. My favorite part was watching my kids do all those great things when they didn’t realize I could see them. Fills my heart right up!
The other campers who joined us again this year were our cousins Jack and Henry (and Joelle too!). They were part of the preschool crew. I think it is really the most fun to hear their observations of the week. The little guys get so into all of the fun themes and songs! The major theme of the camp this year was ‘No Matter What you Do…Trust God!’ Here is an email Joelle sent:
Playing with Henry in the playroom – he wanted to build train tracks and I pointed out that we only had three tracks downstairs and the rest were upstairs. He said, “Well, God trust-es (2 syllables) us and we have to trust God so he will help us and he will bring us tracks. God listens to us.” 🙂
I wonder how that worked out for him? I’m going to trust God that he will bring me wine and chocolate because I was such a faithful servant this week…and because my refrigerator still looks like a crime scene from all the Jesus Jello.
