Last weekend we had rain of biblical proportions. Since Allen is the coach he fielded all sorts of emails from parents asking if the game was canceled. This is Seattle people! We do EVERYTHING in the rain!
When Allen suggested I bring my camera to the game I thought he had lost it. Water on the brain. Turns out he was right. (See that? I even put it in writing!) It was a good game to bring my camera to. See the picture below? Kate is posing that way because she had just scored her second goal!
One of the reasons Kate scored two goals is because Allen gently encouraged her to ‘use her arms’ to protect her space around the ball. Kate was nicely aggressive in the first game but it all went downhill after that. She was complaining about being pushed around by the other team. Looks like now she’s doing some of the pushing!
I love girls micro soccer. It’s all about the hugging and cheerleading and complimenting. It was not unusual to hear ‘Nice hairbow! in the middle of the game.
At the end of every game the girls did a big cheer for the other team, shook their hands and then took a few turns through the parent tunnel. While I won’t miss the weather, I will miss the girls on this team!
Spring soccer anybody?
Stay tuned for Ellie’s soccer pictures tomorrow. I’ve been such a slacker with her team!
