This is how we get ready for spring soccer. We hose off our boots from fall soccer, check the camping chairs for mold (just in case we put them away too quickly last fall) and we check our cleats for toe room. We’ve actually been quite lucky this season. A few rainy days and no snowy ones. Way to go Mother Nature!
Can I have a moment here? Every season the girls get some sort of trophy for participating. That’s it. Just for participating! What happened to actually winning a season championship, or winning a tournament? I know the kids really like getting it, but isn’t the ‘specialness’ of the token diluted by it’s frequency? I’m trying to raise some kids who won’t grow up to feel entitled but that’s tough when things like trophies for PARTICIPATING are the norm.
I must disclose that I am good friends with the owner of this great trophy shop so it is I who usually organizes the end of the year gifts. So far I’ve done trophies, (yes I caved the first year) medals and key chains. Where do I go from here? What do you guys do? I sure could use some ideas!
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…
Oh yeah. Did I mention that Allen was the assistant coach and referee? What a guy!
