Last week we went up to Suncadia to celebrate Father’s Day. Allen’s family joined us up there for the weekend so that seemed like the perfect opportunity to have pictures taken of that side of the family. We had pictures from my side of the family years ago and I will treasure them forever. We were more than past due to do this with the Enebos!
I had it all planned out. I’d scouted some locations on previous visits, we coordinated clothing (I picked blues and purples but it turns out Allen, the Husky fan, was the only one who really had purple. Eek!) and we had our photographer all ready to go. Judith was going to drive up to Suncadia on Saturday to photograph us all together in the afternoon. The only thing I had not counted on was the weather. It rained ALL DAY on Saturday. Seriously? After we had done all this work Mother Nature was going to wash it all away?
I love me a good back up plan. Come Friday morning, when it was obvious what Mother Nature had in store for us, I had to cancel Judith and beg to borrow her tripod. Judith and I have been photographing each other’s families for years because we have similar styles and it is MUCH harder to get good, natural pictures with a tripod. Let’s be honest, the only laughing that was happening with the pictures of me in them was because of my running style! But in a pinch the tripod would allow us to take pictures at a moments notice if the sun ever came out. (And I only had to be in a couple of these pictures. The focus was on Allen, his parents and sister!)
And it did! After Father’s Day brunch we hustled out to the winery for our family pictures. I’m so thankful for that tripod because it worked beautifully!
