Today is Jill’s, gulp, 14th birthday. We’ve been cleaning like fiends around here because of our major painting project. One of the fun things this led to was going through all of the girls memory boxes. One of the things I found was the email that Allen wrote for or friends announcing the birth of each of the girls. It’s fun to look back and see his perspective.
Without further ado…guest blogger Allen.
Subject: Jillian Alexander Enebo
Jill joined the Enebo Family at 6:54 pm on Monday January 18th. She weighed in at 8 lbs, 9oz and was 20 inches long. Mom and daughter are both healthy and expected home from the hospital some time tomorrow (Wed.) Dad is even hanging in there.
The entire process went pretty quickly in relative terms (Michelle may disagree but from my perspective the entire 9 months flew so the last few hours are a blur.) It started at about 2:30 Monday AM when the contractions started. Michelle woke me up at 3:15 after the 4th consecutive contraction. We both watched the clock for the next couple of hours and they did get closer together. I was making Michelle nervous with all my questions so she told me to get lost. I went to work out…this was good and it got rid of some nervous energy. By 8:00 am we were progressing nicely attempting to time everything.
As the morning progressed Michelle was doing great and the contractions were getting closer and closer. The big debate was whether we were going to the hospital or to our regular Dr.’s appointment that was scheduled for 11:15. At about 11 the contractions were about 5 minutes apart. We went to our Dr.’s appointment and she subsequently sent us to the hospital. We were in our room by noon and ready for what hoed to be a short process. As the contractions got closer and increased in intensity, Michelle did not hesitate on the epidural. This turned out to be an excellent decision for both Mom and Dad. I could watch the monitor and tell Michelle what was happening since she could not feel a thing. She was happy and all she could say was ‘Drugs Rock!’ We will highly recommend this to anyone!
At almost 5pm the pushing started and after 2 hours (which is average) Michelle and I have a beautiful baby girl.
We will keep you all posted as we get adjusted and begin to unbury ourselves from all the diapers. Phone calls and emails are welcome but we will be doing a lot of screening and will get back to everyone as soon as we can.
Hope all is well in everyone’s lives.
Talk to you soon,
Allen, Michelle & Jill
We were such rookies! If you stick with us all the way through Ellie’s birthday in February and Kate’s birthday in March you will see that we definitely took ourselves less seriously the more kids we had. Guess that goes with the territory!
Here are my favorite pictures from Jill’s birthday photo session. She was quite accommodating when I made her go outside. It is so unusual that we get sun in January and that sun sure wasn’t bringing any warmth. Good thing I had a fast enough shutter speed because her teeth were chattering in most of these!
While I was photographing Jill she asked to borrow my camera to get a few shots of her own. How could I resist? This girl likes to photograph landscapes. If that is the only way she rebels against me then I will be so lucky! Here are her great shots!
