Kate has very little patience for shopping. She has no interest in trying anything on and has a hard time focusing on what we really need to get. She’s been that way for years.
I guess I should thank my lucky stars since this kid really doesn’t need new clothes ever. We were able to make more than 10 separate outfits (no overlapping tops and bottoms) from the bags of hand me down clothes in her closet!
This year, because of scheduling snafus, we had to break her night into two nights. The first night we went to Payless shoes and Justice (shoot me now) for a pair of shoes and her ‘treat’. As is consistent with her shopping technique we tried on and bought the first pair of shoes we found. Ba Bam! (That is her new favorite phrase.)
We then entered Justice where I was instructed ‘You go ahead and look at the clothes and let me know if you find anything cute. I’m going to the accessories section.’ Divide and conquer. I’m totally fine with that if it gets me out of that One Direction haven faster.
In addition to the fact that Kate is a quick shopper, she is also a very thrifty shopper. For her $10 budget she bought a fashion journal, a lip gloss and two bottles of nail polish. Well done kid!
The next night Kate and I went to Subway for dinner and TCBY for dessert. All of her picking. Unfortunately I forgot my phone so there are hardly any pictures of our time together. Bummer!
We did have some good conversation though. This girlie is most worried about not getting her favorite teacher (her 3rd grade teacher is looping up to teach 4th grade this year) or having her best friend in her class. She won’t know either of those things until the Friday before school starts. She is most looking forward to the same things…if they happen. I hate to break it to her but her school is so big that Kate has a 1 in 7 chance of getting her favorite teacher and friend in her class. Not good odds!
This is the kid who loves to meet new people and make new friends so I am not worried about her. No matter who she ends up with she will have a great year!
