This year we offered the girls an option. They could either have a small party (8 kids including their sisters) or they could have one friend spend the night and then go to lunch and the Lego store with their Dad. No surprise to us Jill, who prefers her friends one on one, picked the latter option.
On Sunday Jill went to do lunch and Legos with Allen. They spent TWO hours at the Lego store concocting a ‘Class’ that Jill could teach the others. We have been very into Glee and all of it’s songs. Proud Mary is one of the girls’ favorites and they are intrigued with all the dancing wheelchairs. So Jill and Allen spent their time making up a Lego wheelchair and then choosing enough pieces for Jill to teach her lego class to Ellie, Kate and her best friend Madison. This perfectly illustrates Jill’s personality. Instead of shopping for herself she really wanted to treat her sisters and friend to some Legos of their own.
While Jill and Allen were gone I played stealth super agent and hid scavenger hunt clues around the house without Kate or Ellie knowing. After Jill finished her class we sent them on their way. We went with the Harry Potter theme here and hired our good friends Judith and Henry to come up with clue ideas. Things like:
“Professor Trelawny might read your fortune in the bottom of one of these. Your next clue can be found where Mrs. Enebo keeps hers.” (The clue was in my teacups.)
or
“Hagrid’s magic is created from his wand. What was it? Head to the area where you can find several of these.” (It was hidden in the umbrella in Ellie’s backpack.)
My personal favorite was:
“The Weasley twins own a specific type of store. Some people thing there are twins in the Enebo family as well. Your next clue can be found where the Enebo family started telling them.”
The Weasley Twins own a joke shop. The clue, of course, was hidden in Kate’s bed. Allen was shocked that it was Madison who knew exactly where to look, but I wasn’t. Madison is a regular reader of my blog! See this post to see what we were talking about. At the end of the hunt was a Harry Potter Lego minifigure for each girl.
We watched the 4th Harry Potter movie and also fit a game of Harry Potter Clue in before Madison had to leave the next day. Happy Harry Birthday!
To finish off her big day we had the neighbors and their crew in for Chinese food and poppyseed cake. A lovely way to celebrate a lovely girl!
