I don’t photograph seniors very often and when I do I always find it such a treat. I love that I can sit down with these guys and have a great conversation. Find out what they like and what they want to do. (And hearing that what they like is more than just the promised lolly pop at the end of the photo session!) Miss Eden is a part of my Inlaws’ church family and I also photographed her sister’s senior pictures a couple of years ago so I was really looking forward to this session.
As you can see below, Eden plays the Bass. She started out playing the violin but her Orchestra teacher asked (begged?) her to try the bass because they didn’t have a single player at their school. It sounds like she picked it up quite fast which is amazing because there aren’t too many experienced bass teachers around. Now there is a huge demand for her services. There are four different orchestras/bands that want here to play with them. Since she only has so much time outside of school she will have to pick the ones that she enjoys most.
What an amazing lesson! At the tender age of 17 she has learned that, in life, if you specialize in something that nobody else does you will be in great demand. Not only that, but it is worth the hard work you will have to put into it (teaching yourself the bass for example) because then you will have control to pick and choose those things that bring you pleasure. Seriously, it only took me 40 years to figure this out and she has learned it before she graduated from high school! Later in life, when she is in business and she is looking to apply this lesson all she needs to do for inspiration and confidence is to remember how successful she has already been.
Here are just a few from our session…
