I heard this quote more than once on Saturday morning. That’s when we had Kate’s Fancy Birthday Party Tea Party. So much for nice springtime weather for our little tea party. Nice Mom that I am, I forced all those girls in their fanciest clothes out into the snow for some group shots. Hey – natural light with snow as a reflector is the best!
Speaking of fancy clothes, our little friend Avery was not sure about coming to Kate’s party. Kate’s party sounded fun to her, but the invitation said ‘Wear your fanciest clothes’ and Avery took that to mean a dress. Avery does not wear dresses so after we assured her that pants were fine she was perfectly happy to wear her ‘Fancy Pants’. Love that!

We set a lovely table complete with flowers, streamers and real tea cups. When the girls first arrived we had Allen on the power tools (he was using the glue gun to fancy up the spring hats) and I painted nails. The girls could also string some beads to make fancy necklaces. All of these activities were finished in 16 minutes.

Moving on to the scavenger hunt with 10 clues. That took 17 minutes. Okay, they were flying through the planned activities at this point. I was getting a little nervous. What was I going to do with all these girls?

We decided to open gifts next because Kate was as giddy as a school girl. (Wait a minute. She IS a school girl. I digress….) In an effort to bring that engery down a few notches we decided to open the release valve and open the presents. Worked like a charm but it only took another 15 minutes.

(making a big wish!)
Finally we served the glittery pink cupcakes and pink lemondade ‘tea’. This took an additional 18 minutes and I was out of agenda items. Good thing these girls know how to entertain eachother. For the last half of the party Allen and I entertained ourselves while the girls went off to play family and Barbies. So easy!
Here are some pictures of the girlies who made it so fun…
