Warning – This post is incredibly long because we had so much fun that it was difficult to cut it down to just a few pictures. (Or it could be that I am so tired now that I’ve reached the end of my busy season that I am incredibly lazy. Yeah, that’s probably more like it!)
Just to refresh your memory, we make this annual trek to my in law’s Christmas Tree farm every year. We bring babies and dogs and lunch and fun and spend the day finding the perfect tree. Or in our case the perfect five trees. That’s not even an exaggeration. Part of the perks of having a Grandfather/Father who owns a tree farms is an abundance of trees. We have our standard big tree, we have a tree that we decorate with lights and all of the holiday cards we receive and each girl has a tree in her room decorated with all sorts of fun doodads (key chains, necklaces, ribbons, etc.) This year’s cast of characters was almost the same as last year. (Sorry Brueckmans!) This year, though, all of the neighbor kids decided it would be fun to have trees for their rooms and they all wanted to try to cut them down themselves.
Suffice it to say that they all got their own trees, but I just didn’t show them all to you! (See! I didn’t show you ALL the pictures!)
The number one thing to do on Jack’s list was ride the tractor with ‘Bean’. (My Father In Law’s name is really Dean but last year Jack couldn’t say that so the nick name has stuck!) For the first time, the big girls got to join in on the fun too. I think that is going to become a new tradition too!
While searching for just the perfect tree I captured lot’s of fun…
Yes, Cooper had a great time. He will swim anytime, anywhere, and he didn’t disappoint on this day either!
What is a trip to the farm without some time by the bonfire? S’mores for all my friends!
To end the day the Dad’s cut down the trees and tied them to our respective cars. (Insert Tim the Toolman Taylor barking sound effects here.)
Finally, it’s amazing what the kids can find to do when you turn off the electronics. The kids grabbed a tie down rope and started jumping. It got even more interesting when Robert said he would give them each $10 if they could all jump in the rope twice in a row. This is the moment the kids lost the bet. Bummer!
Plenty of fun had by all and the raindrops started just as we were driving away. What a great day!
