Here are the pictures I promised last week. These are the top dogs of bunk beds. Incredible works of art, really.
Rumor has it that it took Dean 40 hours in his workshop to craft these beauties. I can absolutely believe it. Each bed has a ton of individual decorative pieces that are cut and sanded and doweled together. Wanda and Deana were the lead designers and helped the girls with all the painting. Then they took the girls to JoAnn’s Fabrics to choose the fabric for the bedding.
It is so neat so see what the girls picked for their beds and it further cements in my brain how individual they are. Jill went with a nice, clean white bed and sheets and crazy fun covers. Ellie was a bit more artsy cutting her covers in a scallop pattern following the print and her lacy sheets had a matching edge. Kate doesn’t have much of a concrete style yet so she picked the typical five year old’s dream color scheme of pink and purple.
The fun didn’t stop there, though. To make sure these dolls were completely organized and neat the girls got to make drawers to slide under those beds. Dean, Deana and Dubs thought of everything!
The beds were loosely based on these beds. But as you can see they are soooo much better! Although Wanda did admit that 3/4 of the way through the process she did think that it may be been easier just to order three sets and be done. I’m SURE she doesn’t feel that way now that she’s seen the girls’ giddy reactions!
