Not only was Saturday Ellie’s birthday, but we hosted her birthday party too. She decided she wanted a dog theme and then she let my imagination run wild. Ellie loves orange so I knew I had to do a double theme for this party.
The silver bowls at each setting are dog bowls and, while I was cooking up the brownies, I whipped together a batch of Puppy Chow (I made mine with Corn Chex.) to give as parting gifts for the party. I also scattered some orange dog toys (Cooper scored some gifts at this party too!) and some candy orange slices on the table. Ellie’s dog themed cake was really 7 different cakes. I made brownies that I cut into the shape of dog bones and covered with fondant. Of course Ellie’s had to be orange!
Ellie picked the food without really knowing what I was doing for her party and it fit in perfectly. She picked hotDOGS with orange sun chips (cheese flavored) and orange pop. I love it when it all comes together!
The girls had a great time on the scavenger hunt Allen created. They totally had Allen’s number, though, so the hunt that we thought would take at least 30 minutes took about 16. That just meant they found their treasure (fun dog necklaces I found on Etsy) in record time!
We ended the evening watching Call of the Wild. The girls enjoyed cheering their favorite sled dog on to victory in this Disney Channel version.
Contrary to those sad puppy dog eyes, I’m pretty sure the party lived up to her high expectations and we got her next decade off to a great start!
