For years I’ve picked a phrase or word to help guide my year. Since before it was in vogue, actually. I’m that kind of geeky. But I like having a bit of a guide. What can I say?!
Last year was a crazy year. We moved twice so that took a lot of time. So did the complete remodel we did on our new house. So did all of Ellie’s graduation and freshman year activities. Yada Yada Yada.
For all those reasons (and more) I cut back on some of my sessions last year. That was so good for my stress level and health! And speaking of health, a lot of people know that one of the reasons we moved last year was for my health. I feel SOOOO much better in this new house. A lot of the things we did to this new house were to mitigate my allergies. For sure removing mold, new furnace, new roof, flooring, etc. What a difference! My mind is much clearer. Less headaches, less sinus issues, less vertigo, less joint pain…I could go on.
Oh, and I turned 50 last year. Big bday’s always lead to some self reflection and this one is no different.
So where does that leave me? I’m in a place where my energy is going up, I’m down to just one kid at home (and she is pretty self sufficient), my house projects are done, and my business is in a great place. Yes I am going to keep doing all of the things I am currently doing but I have more mental energy so what else can I do? What else can I add to life? Yes…and. That’s my phrase for the year. It’s all about keeping my eyes and mind open for what’s next.
I have a few ideas. I may have lost my mind but we are adding a new pup to the family in April. Poppy needs another buddy and two dogs are easier than one. But I am no fool and I KNOW how much time and energy that takes. Yes…and.
I am also looking into joining the board of my favorite charity, Soulumination. I’m not sure what that will entail or even if they need me but I’m putting it out into the universe and we will see what happens! I am definitely planning on doing more Soul photo sessions either way. Yes…and.
As far as business goes, I’m looking into new ways to make my customer experience great. But I think I am still going to restrict the number of sessions I do in the fall because it was so much better for my mental and physical health and my family! Yes…and.
I can’t wait to see what sort of ‘AND’ comes my way this year!
