When Ethan’s Mom scheduled a senior session for him she reminded me that we’d met in 2018 at a Soulumination session. I’d photographed them at the recommendation of another of my Soul families because Jessie (Mom) had recently been diagnosed with ALS. Normally I don’t discuss my Soul families but Jessie said it was ok. She has been very open about her diagnosis and even has a blog where she writes about it. I found some helpful tips on her blog for how to help anybody going through a long illness. Give it a read!
Clearly I am way off track here! I really enjoyed getting to know Ethan better while we drove all over West Seattle for his senior session. This kid is SMART! He was accepted directly into the University of Washington’s Engineering program. During high school he was a big tennis player and saxophone player but he’s going to be focusing on academics at UW.
Ethan was telling me about some job’s he’d really like to get into. One of them fits his passion for film making and working with LCD screens to replace green screens. (They use this technology in the Mandelorian.). The other job is very close to his heart. He said he’d like to work on technology to help the disabled. He has seen first hand the love hate relationship his Mom has with the technology that lets her communicate with the world and he’d like to help improve it.
Whatever he chooses to do I can tell he’s going to kill it! Congratulations on your graduation Ethan!
