This year our big family summer vacation was out to Hood Canal for a long weekend for my cousin Lauren’s wedding. We had family come in from far and wide. (Toronto, San Francisco, North Carolina, Kirkland…) The set up at this resort was perfect. There were cottages that many of us stayed in and also hotel rooms for others.
Joelle and I had cottages next door to each other which was great because we always love having cousin time and together we hosted a birthday dinner for my Dad that had more than 20 people smushed onto one deck (Hey, we are family. We can do that!) and served food on the other.
I have so many pictures I’d like to share that I am splitting the posts up so I don’t overwhelm anybody. You are welcome.
At the birthday party one of my uncles gave Dad a bag of M&M’s. Oh how well they know him!
Cousin Glen introduced his present with ‘For my cousin who only likes the finer things in life!’ Turns out it was a 49’s T-shirt. Dems fighting words to diehard Seahawks fans!
One of the things we gave Dad was a box of bracelets. They were all navy blue for colon cancer and say ‘No One Fights Alone’. There were 50 in the box and this was the perfect place to hand them out. Now we can all show him our support!
With a crew this large we needed two cakes. That’s a whole lot of hot air for the candles but Dad handled it like a pro!
In addition to having the perfect place to host a birthday party (or, ahem, wedding) there is a lot of fun to be had at Alderbrook too. Walks on the dock, pool time, SUP and paddle thingys. All good!
Of course all of this was in anticipation of the big day. Stay tuned for pictures from the wedding…
