Cheryl and Derek have been waiting a long time for their sweet baby. And then the amazing happened. She came early! These guys were supposed to be hosting a dinner party when they got a call from their birth mother. She was in labor, up in Alaska, and they needed to get there quickly. They made it with plenty of time for Cheryl to help with the delivery and it’s been true love (and sleepless nights) ever since.
This was, by far, the easiest newborn session I’ve ever done. Miss Brooklyn came in asleep and then stayed asleep for the next two hours except for one small snack break. She was amazing. I used three different blanket backdrops, her mom held her, her dad held her, she slept in a bowl, she slept on a clock. She would sleep on a box. She would sleep in her sox. (Sorry. That last bit was in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday last week. )
Cheryl asked me to put together a birth announcement with some of her images. I’m not going to share her choice because she hasn’t sent the out yet. We don’t want to ruin the surprise! But I just have to share the poem that she wanted on the announcement. It brought tears to my eyes. I dare you to read this without a tissue.
Here are my favorites of this beautiful baby girl…
