Last week we were fortunate enough to make our annual trek down to Palm Springs for spring break. It could not have come sooner! We missed a week of thunder, rain, hail and snow at home to enjoy a week of mid 80’s and beautiful sunshine.
That picture of Kate above is exactly what I think of when I think about Palm Springs. Jumping into the pool with complete abandon. All of my girls spent a lot of time in the pool, but little Miss Fish was often in the pool first and last.
This year’s trip was a little different because now we have a wide range of ages that need activities for the day. Of course pool time is always great and the kids all loved it. But you can only stay in the pool so long! It worked out so well that Jack and Henry were now old enough to do all of our old favorite activities. That meant that Kate could go along to the zoo with them while the big girls stayed in the pool. And on the Children’s Museum day Ellie, Kate and Allen went along while Jill, who is really too old for that at this point, stayed with me. What a lovely milestone to hit. Jill and I grabbed our eReaders and headed out to Starbucks to kick back. I’m so glad that Kate and Ellie could still do younger kid things and Jill could make her own, older kid decisions. This is really a tough phase to balance!
The other favorite activity was playing in the backyard. Okay, they don’t really have a back yard. But my Mom and Dad’s house is right on the golf course so, at night, when all the golfing was done, the kids had free reign. They had plenty of time to play in the huge sandbox and run all around the grass. And the best part of all is sombody else mows it!
I am breaking these posts up a bit because otherwise you might have to sift through 72,000 photos all in one day. Remember the days of sitting through a slideshow of somebody’s vacation photos? I’m trying to keep it bite sized people! Stay tuned tomorrow when I share our Challenges…
