When I hear that phrase my first instinct is to come up with some sort of chore. Since I have plenty to do around the house and I have no time to get bored I am more than happy to share these chores. So when Kate said she was bored because all of the neighbors were gone and her sisters were busy with homework I had to come up with something good.
82 degrees + a stinky dog = no more boredom
As you can imagine, this was NOT Cooper’s idea of fun. We tied him to a deck chair and we knew that one of two things would happen. Either he would stay still because he doesn’t like the sound of the chair scraping on the deck; or he would be so freaked out by the sound of the chair scraping that he would run away with the chair chasing behind. Fortunately it was the first option.
Of course, once he was done all bets were off about sitting still!
Because Kate was having so much fun in the water she decided that going in the sprinkler out front would be an excellent follow up activity. While I was setting up the sprinkler to the perfect oscillation Cooper, unfortunately, was busy rolling in the mud.
Are you kidding me?!?
We decided that Kate should combine both activities and rinse the dog in the sprinkler. Because this was a much bigger activity I decided to upgrade to my much bigger camera.
Clearly Cooper wasn’t enthusiastic about this idea.
It took a little bit of sweet talkin’.
Eventually he came around and gave us a smile.
Oh wait, that was just because he found his escape route.
No matter, Kate was happy to make some fun on her own.
It’s amazing how a sprinkler draws a crowd. A certain soccer player needed to join in before practice. (Does she always run with her eyes closed?)
Sprinklers also draw out the bookish types who have their noses in their homework.
It is supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow so I’m sure the sprinkler will be out again in force. Feel free to stop and run through if you are in the neighborhood. Just don’t tell me you are bored, though, because my garage sure could use a good cleaning!
