This past year Ellie’s class had to write New Years’s resolutions. Ellie’s resolution was that she wanted to get together with some good friends we haven’t seen in about two years. These two girls are about the same ages as my girls and they have always had a great time when they get together. American Girl Dolls, scootering, dress ups. They’ve done it all over the years. Unfortunately these girls live about three hours away so between the distance and all the activities these girls are involved with, it has been TWO years since they’ve played. Yikes!
So, when six tickets for the Husky game fell into my lap a plan formed. Our Husky season tickets have us sitting at the back of the end zone in a very sunny spot in the stadium. We have had tickets with this other couple (parents of aforementioned long lost friends) and another couple (six of us all together) for almost 20 years. I decided that if those girls could come to the game with my girls that I would take one for the team and be the sole adult sitting with these five girlies. Wasn’t that nice of me? Nevermind the fact that it was 85 degrees and these seats were in the shade. You can also forget about the fact that these seats were on the 50 yard line.
Kudos for me for making such a grand sacrifice, eh? Turns out the game wasn’t pretty, but it was a win for the Dawgs and a win for my girls. Now Ellie can be the only person in our family that actually gets to check off a New Year’s resolution this year. Way to go kid!
