It was 12 months in the making. Actually it took 13 because it took me awhile to pull it all together. 12 months of fun and then a few weeks of work rearranging all of our memories and pictures. And now my new blog book is here.
I love these books. I keep them out on my coffee table and friends and family enjoy flipping through them when they come to visit. When one of the girls finishes their regular book in the middle of one of our evening read-ins (we try to read, to ourselves, every night for 30-60 minutes) they will often pick one up and remember all the fun we’ve had.
I am not a scrapbooker. I love the way those scrapbooks look but I know that I could never take on a project where I would always be behind. It would drive me nuts. This is the perfect for me because the heavy lifting (picking out pictures and writing about them) is already done on my blog. I use a company called Blurb to make these books and they make it so easy for me. Their software can go out to my blog, pull all my personal posts, and pops them into a book for me. I prefer to rearrange the text and pictures so that is why it takes so much time, but imagine how long it would take if I had to make those books up from scratch? Yup, it wouldn’t happen!
So now you know why I am always sharing the crazy things we do. And why, in December, I am going back and sharing things that might have happened months before. Because I’ve got to get it into the book!
Want to know one more secret? I’m only printing one copy of each book. I am actually intentionally doing this because these books will be handed down to my girls when Allen and I pass on. I figure that if there is only one copy of each they will have to share. My girls will have to get together to laugh about the crazy things we’ve done and pass the books around. See? Not only are these books going to share old memories but I think they will make new ones too!
PS – I know there are two books with the date 2010. The first 2010 (in green) is actually 2009 but I forgot what I was doing because I actually made the 2009 book in January of 2010. Yeah, not good with numbers…
